Scottish Claymores @ Barcelona Dragons
Sunday 5 April, 1998

Final Score : Claymores 18 - 19 Dragons

It all came down to one missed field goal. With 7 seconds on the clock, Scottish kicker Gary Parker lined up what should be a straight forward kick from 31 yards. Unfortunately, Parker slipped on the run up pushing the kick wide right and preserving a slim Dragons lead.

The Claymores dominated throughout the game with 440 yards of offense to Barcelona's 160. Once again, turnovers killed the Claymores, with three key turnovers contributing to the Claymores loss.

Parker started the scoring with a 27 yard field goal in the first quarter. This was followed up by a wild play where WR Chris Miller was stripped of the ball after making a catch. WR Jerry Reese was quick to react and scooped up the ball nd rumbled 55 yards for a score. The Claymores attempt for 2 points failed giving the Claymores a 9-0 advantage.

A 1 yard Reggie Brooks plunge brought the score to 9-7 with Jesus Angoy's PAT but it was two more Parker field goals from 25 and 18 yards that gave the Claymores a 15-7 half time lead.

In the third quarter, Gary Brown ran 1 yard for a Dragons touchdown. The two-point conversion failed to narrow the score to 15-13 Claymores.

A fumble by Claymores WR Miles Macik gave the Dragons the ball at the Claymores 27 yard line. A few plays later and QB Jim Richey sneaked in from a yard out. Again the 2 pointer failed making a 19-15 Dragons lead.

Dolphins allocate Jon Baker booted a 35 yard field goal to make it a 1 point game before Gary Parker's heartbreaking 31 yard miss which gave coach Jack Bicknell and the Dragons a victory.
