Final Score : Claymores 30 - 10 Dragons
Finally! A win, and a good one at that. The Claymores proved themselves to be the better team after their week one efforts.
The offense finally clicked under backup QB Mark Grieb who made his first start after injury to starter Jim Ballard who had been, on the whole, ineffective.
Kicker Jon Baker booted his second field goal of the season from 45 yards to give the Claymores an early 3-0 lead. 8 seconds into the second quarter, Grieb hooked up with WR Chris Brantley for a 16 yard score to extend the Claymores lead to 10.
Jesus Angoy narrowed the lead to 7 with his 32 yard field goal for the Dragons making the half time score 10-3 in favour of the Scots.
Early in the third, Dino Philyaw plunged into the endzone from a yard out followed shortly by Gary Parker's 19 yard field goal to double the Claymores score to 20-3.
Chris Miller finally caught a touchdown late in the third period on a 12 yard completion from Mark Grieb to increase the lead to 27-3.
Isaiah Mustafa caught 6 yard pass from QB Jim Richey 4 minutes into the final period for the Dragons but it was too little too late as the Claymores scored another 3 from the boot of Jon Baker from 33 yards to round off the scoring on a memorable win and the Claymores first in 1998.
