Jack Bicknell was named the fourth head coach of the Scottish Claymores in October 2003. He is well known face to Claymores supporters having coached the Barcelona Dragons since their inception in 1991.

Bicknell has been coaching for 43 years, most notably in the football world, coaching Boston College in the 1980's. He coached the game in 1984 where Doug Flutie's Hail Mary pass beat Miami 47-45 as time expired in what is called by many, the greatest play in college football history. He spent 10 seasons coaching the Eagles to a 59-55-1 record (0.517) leading them to Bowl games between 1982 and 86 as well as coaching Heisman winner Flutie.

Before that Bicknell coached the University of Maine Black Bears between 1976 and 1980 leading them to a 18-35-1 record (0.342) before moving to BC. But it in Barcelona that Bicknell made his name amongst the NFL Europe faithful. Friendly towards fans of all teams, the coach developed the reputation of a man who loves his football but is not aversed to mingling with fans.

Nicknamed Cowboy Jack for his love of horses, country music and Western novels, the coach is sure to become a fan favourite in Scotland.
